Convergent Concrete Sealant

Convergent concrete sealant (www.convergentconcrete.com) is a water-based, zero-VOC, concrete sealant, which complies with South Coast Air Management Quality standards and also always qualifies for one LEED credit, in the Low-Emitting Adhesives and Sealants category.

Some of the other environmental features of this product include:
  • Shipped in recyclable containers
  • Concentrated material requires lower application rate
  • Concentrated material requires less material, thus lower shipping costs
  • One application of the material -- it is permanent no reapplication is required
  • Prolongs the life of masonry structures

Soy-based Joint Filler and Sealant

C2Products (www.c2products.com) has this great soy-based product, which can help project teams qualify for 2-3 LEED Credits.

RECYCLED CONTENT

The joint filler contains 75-95% recycled content

PLANT-BASED MATERIAL

27% of the sealant is soy-based

LOW-VOC

Both products are water based and are zero-VOC

REGIONAL MATERIALS

This product is produced in Indianapolis, Indiana

Cambridge Engineering Space Heaters

Cambridge Engineering (http://www.cambridge-eng.com) high-efficiency space heater that may qualify projects for as many as 30 LEED Credits!

CODE COMPLIANCE

These space heaters always meet the ASHRAE 90.1 energy standard, they are stamped to ANSI Standard Z83.4, and they can provide the ventilation required per ASHAE 62.1 standard.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Cambridge space heaters are especially useful for large open spaces, such as warehouses, stadiums, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities. Those who have used this product report results that are in the range of 30-50% annual energy savings.

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

This product is completely customizable. For instance, if you want to monitor your veniltation rates and efficiencies then Cambridge can integrate the proper monitoring equipment. They'll work with any automation and control system. This is a flexible and resilient product.

Enviroshop Flooring

Enviroshop (www.automotivefacilities.com) is a natural, tough, flooring product for high traffic areas that always contributes toward 3-5 LEED Credits. If you are building a facility that needs to comply with LEED standards and needs resilient flooring then this is a choice product.

RECYCLED CONTENT

This product contains 65% recycled content.

LOW-VOC

The Enviroshop installation process calls for always using low-VOC adhesives and sealants. Contractors have had proven success using low-VOC materials to install this product.

REGIONAL MATERIALS

Enviroshop ships from the manufacturing facility closest to your location. This reduces the carbon footprint of the product while helping you qualify for the LEED regional materials credit.

Monocoat Natural Oil Finish

Rubio Monocoat (http://www.monocoat.us) natural oil finish is a non-emitting (zero-VOC) finish, which complies with South Coast Air Quality Management standards. It qualifies you toward 2 LEED Credits. Some of the other environmental features of this product include:

PLANT-BASED FINISH

Monocoat Oil is made from Flax and Carnauba plants, both of which are considered rapidly renewable materials. Rapidly renewable means that the materials that go into this product grow back very quickly.

ZERO-VOC

Monocoat Oil and Maintenance Soaps are VOC-free. VOC-free means that, unlike conventional finishes and maintenance soaps, there is no off-gassing scent associated with the application of these products.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Monocoat Oil is a one-coat application, whereas conventional finishes require three coats and three trips to a job site. Since you only have to apply this finish once, you save on transportation costs.

Monocoat Oil requires only one buffing machine application, whereas three are needed to apply the standard three coats of conventional finish. Thus, this product contains less embodied energy than the conventional.

MSP Technology: High Efficiency HVAC System

The MSP Technology (http://www.msptechnology.com) high efficiency dehumidification system is an intelligent product. This systems is extremely cost effective in places where dehumidification systems need to be operating all the time (such as in hotels, public housing and hospitals – particularly those in tropical climate zones).

Energy Efficiency

The high efficiency system uses an internal heat exchanger to regulate the temperature of dehumidified air; this minimizes the amount of energy needed to operate the system and thus greatly reduces energy costs. Since this system has an internal heat exchanger, it can be driven with chilled water. This feature is especially useful in cities, metropolitan areas and campuses where central chiller plants are common.

The motors used to run this high efficiency system are on the cutting-edge. These motors are a quantum leap in fan performance because high efficiency is maintained throughout the range of fan speeds. By maintaining performance at any speed, there is no energy lost when the fan switches speeds. This also means there is no waste heat generated during operation – and this translates into more energy savings.

Less Maintenance, More Occupant Comfort

On top of these benefits, it is well known in the green building industry that humidity can cause major problems. In humid climates, moisture can build up on the surfaces of rooms, and even penetrate to the interior walls. This may cause mold problems and lead to health problems for building occupants and maintenance issues over time. Given this, the MSP Technology dehumidification system is a long-term, practical, sustainable choice; not only will you be reducing energy costs but you will also be protecting your building materials and protecting your building occupants.

CrystaLite Skylights

CrystaLite skylights (http://www.crystaliteinc.com) can help project teams achieve LEED® Certification. This skylight product always satisfies two LEED prerequisites and always facilitates the achievement of 1-27 LEED credits under the LEED NC V3.0 system.

Improved Amount of Daylight and Improved Views to the Outside

First, the amount of daylight and views in a space directly impacts occupant comfort. Daylighting an interior space and giving the interior space a connection to the outdoor environment makes occupants feel better and thus enhances occupant comfort and improves human performance. Designing spaces to have more daylighting also reduces reliance on electromechanical systems, thus saving costs and reducing environmental impacts associated with energy use.

Energy Code Compliance

Buildings seeking LEED Certification must meet or exceed the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard for energy performance. CrystaLite unit skylights are certified by the National Accreditation & Management Institute (NAMI) and exceed the prescribed structural criteria as outlined by ASHRAE 90.1.

Energy Efficiency
Optimizing energy performance results in lowering operating costs (thus saving money for the building owner), and this use of less energy means using less environmental resources. The CrystaLite skylight product makes buildings more energy efficient by delivering natural lighting and delivering natural ventilation to indoor spaces. More daylight and more natural ventilation mean less use of electrical and mechanical systems; and this use of less electromechanical systems means better energy performance, which can of special importance, and money saving value, once the Lieberman-Warner Carbon Cap and Trade bill is passed in the Senate.

Recycled Content

Using materials containing recycled content is an intelligent and resourceful thing to do. Using recycled materials reduces waste and reducing waste helps the environment. The glass and aluminum in the CrystaLite product contain recycled content.

Regional Materials

This product is manufactured in the state of Washington, and many of the materials that constitute this product are extracted and sourced in Washington. If you are within 500 miles of Washington then this product contributes toward the LEED credit for regional materials. When you buy locally manufactured products, you reduce environmental pollution associated with transportation.

Ventilation Code Compliance and Improved Ventilation Quality

Buildings seeking LEED must comply with ASHRAE Standard 62.1 – Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. Manual and mechanical operators are available for this skylight system. Making these skylights operable facilitates ventilation code compliance and increases the natural ventilation for indoor spaces. By making these skylights operable, you reduce energy costs and positively impact the environment.
